Save up to £8,000 on your new Air Source Heat Pump with our expert support

The UK government is making it easier than ever to switch from expensive, fossil-fuel heating to low-carbon alternatives. With the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), homeowners and landlords in England and Wales can receive a government grant of £7,500 towards the installation of a low-carbon heating system like an Air Source or Ground Source Heat Pump.

Efficient Energy Homes Ltd will guide you every step of the way – from eligibility checks and technical assessments to applying for funding and overseeing installation.

What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is the UK’s flagship grant programme to support the decarbonisation of home heating. Administered by Ofgem and backed by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), it offers:

  • £7,500 towards an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP)
  • £7,500 towards a Ground or Water Source Heat Pump
  • £5,000 towards a Biomass Boiler (for rural/off-gas properties only)

These grants are available in England and Wales and can only be claimed once per property. The system must replace a fossil fuel-based heating system (gas, oil, LPG, or electric) and cannot be a hybrid setup.

The application is submitted by your installer – we take care of this on your behalf.

Who Qualifies?

You may be eligible if:

  • You own the property (homeowners, landlords, small businesses)
  • Your property is in England or Wales
  • You are replacing a fossil fuel heating system
  • Your property has a valid EPC with no outstanding insulation recommendations, unless exempt
  • The installed system has a capacity of up to 45kWth
  • Your installer is MCS certified and TrustMark registered

Efficient Energy Homes handles the eligibility checks, EPC validation, and grant application so you don’t have to.

Why Choose an Air Source Heat Pump?

Feature Air Source Heat Pump Traditional Gas Boiler
Efficiency 300-400% 85%
Emissions None on-site High (fossil fuels)
Lifespan Up to 20 years 10-15 years
Noise Quiet (44-54dB) N/A

Air Source Heat Pumps extract heat from the air – even in sub-zero temperatures – and transfer it into your home to provide both space heating and hot water. With minimal running costs and no direct emissions, they’re one of the most effective ways to cut bills and carbon.

What’s Included with Your Installation?

  • MCS-certified Air Source Heat Pump
  • Hot water cylinder
  • Radiator upgrades (if required)
  • All pipework, controls, and wiring
  • Waste removal and system recycling
